SUNSILK SETS OFF

Those from Eorzea are quite familiar with the hardworking chocobo. Birds less suited for flight, but suited for fast running and speed above all else. Those who enjoy speed are in luck of course, as the Sunsilk Endurance race is well underway across Eorzea. I had the pleasure to speak with those running the race, as well as some of the racers down by the track. I have all the details from the first two races, and those who wish to see more should come out to watch the next ones in person. To start off simply, who is the one running this show? No, it is not the Manderville’s, their racing circuit is their own. I met with Ry’lah Dinhe, owner and league official of the Etheirys Chocobo Sports League. Alongside her work as owner of the league, she owns a “Relic Acquisitioning Company" named Invictus. Sadly, I was not able to learn much further about Invictus, due to their own security measures. Those with an interest in artifacts and ruins might wish to look deeper than I was able to in my short time. What then might be the difference between the Chocobo Sports League and the races held from the Gold Saucer? Much of the reason behind this is one that I can respect, a love of the sport, and a wish to spread it further beyond. "Well, I've always been a fan of chocobo racing,” said Ry’lah “but the Mandervilles tend to have that locked down tightly with their Gold Saucer league, and not many folk tend to travel to Ul'dah to visit the Saucer for chocobo racing. Those that do are die hard fans of the sport. So... I'm... taking the sport abroad, more or less. They might own the Gold Saucer league, but they don't own the heart and soul of racing birds."Of course by this I was curious, as I would have never heard of Chocobo racing back home in Vylbrand. The Sunsilk Endurance is a cross country race that is making its way across Eorzea, and Vylbrand. She even hinted that in the future, there might be races farther abroad!A race without racers would be silly, of course. Though I haven’t met them all, I did have the pleasure to meet a few before and after the races. Before race two, I had the pleasure to meet Z’varin Nunh, one who consistently placed well in his races. I asked what brought him out to race, he stated that he joined as a friend of his was putting together a team. Being a thrill seeker, the Z’varin signed up. For someone who just began racing to already place so well, it's rather inspiring. When asked about future strategies, Z’varin stated that he was looking to simply improvise, which does by all accounts seem to be working! At the end of day two, I had the pleasure to also meet with Theodor Ulysses, the crowned winner of the day. This man was a true professional, a veteran both knowledgeable and understanding. Despite this, the man does seem to have a bit of a phobia regarding chocobo, as he mentioned being wary of their “Snappy Beaks”. Even still, his strategy is to conserve energy throughout the race, only to explode near the end. Seems to me that it was more than viable, to ensure victory! When asked for any further comment, he said: “Never stop moving, and put your trust in your bird”.On day four I caught up with two more of the races. Phiabant Vassaux, the Golden Dragoon of Ishgard, and Ayato Arakane, a veteran racer with Flying Solo. Phiabant had an absolute victory in the Coerthas leg of the race, his knowledge of the region and years long experience with chocobos proving just how much experience and knowledge plays a part in these races. Ayato had an amazing comeback in Mor Dhona, rising from the back of the pack in Coerthas to leading the race through the swamps and Castrum Centri. These next few races will be the last for his bird, Limit Breaker. For a lifetime jockey out from the east, he made his mark on the track today. When asked for advice for future races, he said: "Everyone starts someplace. No matter what your skill level, take pride in yourself as a rider. You can only get better from here, in time." Wise words, ones I imagine he takes to heart. If you’re looking to catch the next races, be sure to get out there early! The next scheduled races are on [January 30th and 31st] and can be watched from [Northern Thanalan, Central Thanalan, Western Thanalan, and Middle La Noscea]. If you’re further afield, check back in with the Lodestone Informer, as I will report on the Sunsilk Endurance Race as it concludes next moon!

SWORDS OF PLENTY

Dear reader, it is likely that you might be an adventurer. Having seen those who hold my papers up until now, it is quite comforting to see. Because of this, I have had the pleasure to meet a number of odd and interesting travellers. This story is no different. On my travels I have met a woman named Antipode Annalise. Though she appears to be an Au Ra like any other; she is in fact not. She is a weapon, living and wandering the world. Strange as it may be to read, I have managed to learn quite a lot having spoken with her. All of this is to say, perhaps you will come to appreciate the oddities you come across.Let us first begin by understanding who Antipode is. While she may appear wandering around with a body, that body is in fact more akin to a golem, or construct. The sword said body carries is apparently known as a “ Crown Crescent Animus”. It was crafted to take on many different forms, depending on who wields it. Having seen her wielded by another; it appears that in combat the weapon may adjust itself, or act beneficially. Strange, but rather useful for those who seek cooperation in combat. These traits are rather useful, yes, but does she contain any actual goals? Is she simply a weapon doing what weapons do? Not quite dear reader, as she herself does seem to struggle with understanding what goals she might take on in the future. In this void of purpose, she has indeed begun to seek out others as her purpose. Through hunts and the odd jobs, this weapon has taken to seeking jobs just as an adventurer would. Though I cannot speak for her, when I asked her if she wanted to be an adventurer, like her previous wielders, she seemed rather agreeable to the idea. Her past is certainly a strange one, as she herself only recently awoke to wander in the past few years. From what she gathers, she was crafted within the ruins of Mhach a few hundred years ago. She remained within the ruins, until a band of explorers picked her up, as she was passed along across a few different hands. Her previous wielder perished in a battle with the Dark Divinity, Odin, and henceforth she has walked the world. A tragic start to a journey, but a reminder to not simply wander into the primals’ gaze should you ever see him.To close this off I do wish to offer a few of my thoughts on this Antipode. Her attitude and view of the world is one of curiosity and critique. I struggle to imagine she was built by Mhachi hands, as my observation clearly lacked any sinister, or hints to void intervention. Much of what I saw looked to be closer in scope to Amdapori magics, given the similarities to golems or other created beings. Though I am not the most well read on aetherology, my thoughts go to something different entirely. Materia. The described experience of slow growth, gradual change, and adaptation to the wielder only made me further think of the process of “Spiritbonding”. This is only a possibility however, and I cannot be certain if it is true. No matter the case, I wish Antipode the best for the future. Hopefully those who wield her can decipher the potential left underneath.

AURUM TREASURES UNFOUND

For years adventurers have braved the toxic depths of the Aurum Vale, seeking their fortunes in mythril, gold, or other yet untapped riches. That all comes to an end now, as the city state of Ishgard prepares to suspend supervised expeditions into the cave system for the foreseeable future. I’ve braved the cold wastes and dangerous depths, and have the information you will need. Read on for the latest information from experts in the dangers seen deep within.First things first; a history lesson of the precious caves of gold. Despite the name and promises of riches, there has yet been provided a breakthrough in terms of ore, or hidden wealth. If you have had the pleasure of never stepping foot through the maw of the cave, this description must suffice. Found within are pools of yellow bile, the thick sludge across the cavern floors. Deep enough to submerge your ankles, and smelling as acrid and awful as anything else. Of course, it is toxic and acidic. It will quickly end your life if it gets on you. Not to mention the horrors of monsters within- all of this seen in the first opening of the caverns. I went no further with my guides, but dear viewer… It truly is a horrible place.Adventurers were not the only ones duped into looking further within the caves, as the Garlean Empire also sent soldiers to claim the riches within before Dalamud fell. Though they were not successful, magitek and riches in terms of weapons were indeed left behind. After the calamity, interest was sparked yet again. This time by the left behind wealth of an Empire. Quickly though, most of the magitek was plundered, leaving only the rumours again. Those who sought out the riches continued to probe the depths, finding nothing in the process. Many died, many more were injured. Some got sick.In the present day, the Knights that guard the gates will let adventurers in upon receiving permission from the Grand Companies. Though that permission is starting to dry up. As fewer adventurers make their way into the caves, there has been talk within the Ishgardian House of Commons to seal up the caverns. Much to the dismay of the treasure hunters that seek to strike it rich on an unseen fortune.I met with a few former Aurum Vale treasure hunters, one in particular by the name of Orih Desservir offered me many colourful words. The point she made was clear, however. Spending so much time in the caverns had infected her lungs to the point that she would never recover. Her life has been cut short, even if the monsters hadn’t gotten to her.Aurum Vale is a dangerous place dear reader. Should you wish to explore its depths, your time is short. If the House of Commons can decide on their ruling, it is likely the depths of the caves will be sealed off forevermore. Perhaps it is for the best. Such a place seemed too awful to afford any wealth, none worth such an effort.

EXCLUSIVE: BANQUET HAUL

Coverage for formal events is rather rare, given the exclusivity many tend to have. Dear reader, I have the pleasure to inform you that this is not the case. Ready your dancing shoes, your finest clothes and make for the South Shroud. In a secret corner of the woods, you can expect a night of music, food, and drink all and all you need to do is step within. Today, I have the exclusive first look within the venue, all for you dear reader. You might have a few questions to ask, and worry not. I have dug deep to learn everything I can for you to have the best possible experience. To begin, who exactly is this mysterious Banquet Benefactor? Who is Mora Addich? In her own words, she described herself as “Nobility, though not from Eorzea”. A cryptic description, indeed. Despite her standing, she is a notable adventurer, having spent much of her time out in the wilds, experiencing Eorzea and enjoying the wilds. You might even have seen her on her travels, if you have been lucky!Of course it is important to then ask, where exactly is this Banquet to take place? Travel to an unknown land must cost a fortune, and that very well might be true. As I said earlier dear reader, it is much closer than you may think. If you can manage to make your way to the South Shroud, you have gone as far as you need. For the ballroom is just within a small house, nondescript from the outside. But within… oh within is another story. Opulent walls, plush carpets, all prepared for the coming visitors. Then what pray tell, might be the special occasion? What prompts the gathering of faces fresh and new, old and familiar? That is quite an interesting thought, but it does seem to be answered simply. The family of Mora Addich believe that a connection to the people is important, and that means all people. Not merely nobility, not merely the wealthiest. They wish to celebrate everyone, be you adventurer, friend, tradesman, or furthermore. “Our Knights are not merely those who know how to fight, but know other trades as well. We wish to celebrate you all.” said Mora, when asked to comment on her reasoning for the event. If you wish to make an appearance as well, look for an invitation within your mail. Perhaps you have already received one from a mysterious sender. Simply carry it with you, and follow the map and you shall be let within. Be there early, so that you might make your way inside as the doors open! The doors are set to open on the Lightsday the 16th at the 21st bell. It was not easy getting Lady Mora to hand over so many, but if you wish for a night free of worry, I hope to also see you there!I asked Lady Mora for her final thoughts on the upcoming ball, about her life and what she hopes for the future. Her answer was notable, and rather uplifting. “Despite the dread of everyday life, making the most of the time we have is important. Celebration is meaningful to those who do everything they can, no matter how that might be. To that end, we open our arms for you, for everyone. I see a bright future, and hope that my travels take me even further. So that next time, we might welcome more weary wanderers as friends.”I can think of no better way to put it, dear readers.

SHiNE UNITES EORZEA

We all need a little music in life. Experiencing the arts in its many forms is an excellent way to unwind, or let loose after days of work and travel. Musicians and bards are often tricky to track down, but I had the pleasure of meeting with SHiNE, a musical master from Hingashi currently on tour in Eorzea. They’ve been performing for the past few moons, so make sure you catch them before the last of their shows sell out! Before we learn about what SHiNE has been up to, let us learn more about their group. Though you may already know, SHiNE is simply a stage name for Chinatsuko Hinata. Those present for the SHiNE Unites Eorzea tour are:Leah Raidena (SUN), Matilda Magentine (SEA), Hana Daisuke (SKY), and Xomi Xaiaragu (MOON). Together they form the group, ShineStar.I asked SHiNE about the performances within their group, and managed to get some insider information. They described their performances as Diva Magic, a literal interpretation for certain. Taking choreographed song and dance, and utilizing more than just effects along with their performances! The results of which have led to performances I can only describe as “explosive and vibrant”. Truly, the energy present wherever SHiNE performs seems to be certifiably unreal. If you think SHiNE may look familiar to you, perhaps you have seen her before. Having performed in Ul’dah, Limsa Lominsa, Gridania, Ishgard, Kugane, Radz-at-Han, and Tuloyollal. Their next tour is set to kick off in Ul’dah, before making its way across the continent again. Be sure to check the nearest airship landing, to grab your tickets for the SHiNE Unites Eorzea tour!To SHiNE and the other members, their tenacity and inspiration to perform is astounding. To put it simply, her dedication is to her family’s lineage, and honour their traditions. Diva Magic to them is not unlike carrying on a torch, using its power for the good of the Star. They hold a hope that while their performances might give light to their fans and lift their spirits, they have to then return to a world of darkness when the show is over. When the curtain falls however, they hope that the light they shone stays with those who saw it, and keeps with them, to seek out more wherever it may be found.Their next performance, dear reader, is tomorrow, Firesday the 10th in Ul’dah. The following performance is Earthsday the 11th in Vesper Bay. Be sure to get your tickets, and arrive early. You will not want to miss it!

RAVENLESS ROADS

Imagining your heroes, you are almost sure to imagine someone fighting to better the lives of others. Adventurers who appear when they are needed most. But those who work in the shadows, those who work in the cover of darkness are often unspoken. Hushed words are the only recognition of their deeds. Of course dear reader, when one vanishes… their absence is sometimes felt more than any other.Having done some snooping into the nature of crime and vigilantism, sometimes you find a pattern. When that pattern is broken, you have to wonder, what happened? Today that is no more true than with an enigmatic called; ”The Raven” (no relation to Gridania’s news source). Known for their swooping strikes, and their enigmatic nature, it seems that the Raven has fled into the night. But a few weeks ago, muggers in Ul’dah were meeting swift justice at the hands of this figure. Though the Brass Blades attempted to apprehend them, the Raven has managed to evade capture at every turn. So what then, might this mean? Where might they be? I of course have a few possible theories. The first is a fairly simple one, the Raven has been caught. Perhaps not for rampant vigilantism, but perhaps in some corner of the world, the Raven has been found and sent to gaol. Though unknown to those who did the deed, they may have just made the streets slightly more dangerous…Though it is one I would rather not think about, perhaps the Raven has been injured. Catastrophic unseen injury might have ended the chances for the Raven setting out to help those less fortunate. If that is the case, who has injured them? How quickly will they return? One simply cannot be sure. Further, they might have even died whilst out, and no one knows.Though perhaps it is my own fanciful heart, if I truly must pick a theory, I choose this. Perhaps the Raven is distracted not by injury or capture, but instead? Love. Perhaps they found someone to spend their days with. Perhaps their days of fighting crime are over, now taking the time to enjoy the company of another. Perhaps even more, they simply found another job, one that provides more gil than they know what to do with! All of this is to say, we may never know what it is the Raven is up to now that they are gone. I hope that whatever situation they find themselves in, they are safe. The streets may be a little safer with them watching over, but one should not rely on others to solve their issues. In the meanwhile dear reader, stay safe, and stay vigilant. You must all the same be ready to fight for what you believe in.

A BLOOMING MARKET

Commerce, gil, wealth. Those are what make the world go round. This is not merely the influence of Ul’dah, every city has their market hubs. Though local goods often find their way through Sapphire Avenue, Hawkers’ Alley, and Shaded Bower, there is a different type of market that stokes excitement in my heart. Those that pop up for one night only, selling goods from far lands, only to be gone by morning. In that regard, I was pleased to meet with none other than Mazi’li Setsa. Though a strange and quiet woman, she had much to say on Spiritbloom, a market run by her and a handful of likeminded individuals.Though I had heard of Spiritbloom before from my peers, I had to ask. What exactly is Spiritbloom? Their core beliefs are to bring together, appearing ‘like fog on a dewy morning, only to disappear hours later without a trace”. They accept all comers, and no one is turned away. Being only a short walk from the city of Ul’dah, it is quite accessible to those who simply wish to see something they may have never seen before. All before it vanishes again into the night. So why did Spiritbloom begin? What brought it to life? Simply put, longevity. The very first Spiritbloom was held to celebrate the anniversary for Mazi’s other ventures. Though at that time it was small, a handful of friends; standing together. Eventually, it felt more than that. Though it was to be a single spark of celebration, it never ended up that way. The promise of Spiritbloom is more than a simple gathering of commerce, but a brief warm comfort. Perhaps not quiet, but this moment where everyone might feel like they belong. She said to me: “Whatever the reason, it’s become more than I ever planned. A whisper of kindness that appears, blooms and then vanishes, leaving only warmth behind.”To you dear reader, I am sure you are curious about one thing. The vendors. Worry not, I did ask what one might expect when visiting! In the past, there have been tea, food, jewelers standing by. Divination standing side by side with those offering adoption (I assume of pets). Even those fancying themselves as new religious movements have set up shop in the past. That being said, Mazi’li did tell me what to expect in their upcoming market. Some merchants, sundries, and tea. They are still looking for more vendors, so you might wish to apply yourself while the time is ripe!If you are looking to participate in the festivities, you need not travel far from Ul’dah as I said before. It is only a brief walk from the city, in the rejuvenated Silver Bazaar. Having been myself recently, I can imagine a wonderful evening market alongside the sea breeze as quite the wonderful experience. Perhaps I myself will seek to sell a stack of papers there. That is correct, dear reader. The next Spiritbloom is two weeks away, set to take place on the 9th Sun of the Sixth Astral Moon. Book your airships, rent a room at the Hourglass, if you must. And if you see me there, say hello to your friend Scribe Pageturner. To end our time, I asked Mazi’li her thoughts on her experiences with Spiritbloom. Her words gave me hope for the future, and my own work as a writer. "Spiritbloom isn't supposed to be just a market. It's a reminder that there's still kindness to be found, even in fleeting places. That connection doesn't have to last forever to mean something. Whether you come to sell, to share, or just to wander - you're welcome. No matter who you are, or where you've been. Even if all you do is step beneath the lanterns for a moment… I just offer a space for those wishing for a night free of worries.”Spiritbloom is accepting potential vendors up until a few days before they open. See the flyer attached to this issue for more information if you wish to learn more about them.

(Spiritbloom Market will be held on November 8th, 2025 at 9PM EST. You can find them on Crystal > Goblin > Western Thanalan > The Silver Bazaar)

SHADES OF HEROISM

An air of mystery and subtlety often comes to those who may be called ‘heroes’. The well paid mercenaries and the amicable guards of our hometowns can never be forgotten. But what of those who we know so little about? I speak now of course about an individual without a known name, one seen sparingly before the Battle of Cartenau, and only recently having been seen more and more over time. Described as a woman wearing a pointed hat, with striking purple hair. I would dub this figure as “the Lavender Eagle”, for her ability to appear, fight, and then vanish without a trace. To those with a keen eye, I suggest keeping the description in mind. The traditional description of a ‘Witch’ comes to mind, and not just because of said pointed hat. Donned in heavy robes with a myriad of devices, she carries no weapon. Though her magics are potent by all accounts, her staff simply appears in thin air. Some have described her as a Viera, though it is not certain if this truly is the case.By all accounts, her goals seem to be benign. Her appearance being sudden is shocking, but it often appears that she intends to help. Driving away dangerous threats and beasts with ease. This then is contradicted, with some accounts saying that she consorts with a cat-like voidsent of some kind. Others have stated that she has cheated them out of their money, acquiring debt before vanishing again. Each account she has gone by other names just the same. Some of which I was able to find are Fiona, Olivianna, Colette, and Lavender.Though she has done much to help the Star, she has left scars in her wake just the same. The land that has been the site of her battles is noted to be scarred, or devoid of aether. Those smarter than I have noted that life slowly returns to these locations, having been left in such a state. On one hand, saving the lives of others is a noble cause, but on the other the detriment to nature is one that makes me worried. Could all of this simply be a ploy by the Lavender Eagle to gather aether under the cover of battle? In recent days, she has been seen often by those of the adventuring disposition. Most calmer accounts note her appearance in villages, small and quiet. Some have seen her paying visit to small festivals. Those who try to follow her seem to get lost in a fog, until finally they lose the Lavender Eagle in the night. Outside of similar calm environments, she has been noted to be seen in fighting during many high profile battles across the Three Continents. I found many accounts within the Black Shroud, noting her ‘tampering’ with the natural aether of the forest.Dear reader, I will continue to keep my ears and eyes open regarding this witch. But a few days ago I had been told she arrived in my home city of Limsa Lominsa, departing a ship returning from Tural. For now I advise caution, but those with a strong sense of curiosity would be much appreciated. My goal of keeping you informed on the strange happenings of our Star is foremost important. I promise you that should any new information arise, you shall read it here first!

GRIDANIA CIRCUS SPOOKS

Ghosts, ghouls, the dark creatures of the night found only in the most hidden of crannies. They are not merely a folktale, dear readers! I have been to the home of their frights and fears. Creaking wood and dark clouds surround it, without a guide surely I would be lost. What I experienced was not merely an illusion either, and you might visit if you dare. Hear me well, this experience may not be for the faint of heart. While I might find Gridania an odd settlement, built between trees taller than most ships are long, the decorations of All Saints’ Wake were a comfort. My memories of carved pumpkins and merry spooks are those I consider some of my most fond. Following to the grand stage at the centre of the city however, I was met with a rather odd sight, calling themselves the Continental Circus. Discussing with the performer folk, I’m told of their sanctuary, a manor deep within the fog of the Black Shroud. What followed was by far the strangest experience of my life.Voidsent! It is true, I am all but certain. I was face to face with true voidsent. Though they say it to be costumes, it is certain not to be the case. But I am still here of course, and quickly my fear became curiosity. While the fears of gnashing teeth and hungry monsters fit the look of the performers, their mannerisms were quite polite. Their hunger not satiated by flesh or life, but by gratitude… and pumpkin cookies. Their tastes are more refined than I had imagined.Through one of the halls I chanced upon an imp- lowly though they may be this had quite the surprise in store. By one simple spell, the man but a few fulms away from me had changed. Not just a minor glamour, not at all. The Miqo’te in front of me grew, his form shifting into one I knew well. He took on the form of Admiral Merlwyb Bloefhiswyn! A fantastical treat for those who might wish to express themselves, or to see what more could be in store for them. Perhaps I shall return, see what forms I may take on if asked.Up beyond the creaking stairs there was no doubt a Pudding. The gelatinous mass matched the descriptions I have read in previous. My mind wandering I did step forward, curiosity taking form as I poked into its flesh. I had no clue what had come over me dear reader, as the poor Pudding yelped out, asking me not to startle them. Were it merely a costume I am sure they would not have noticed from so light a touch. That… and they would not be so squidgey. My time within this Haunted Manor was extensive, but I shall encourage you dear reader to inspect it yourself! Have a wonderful All Saints’ Wake, and enjoy a treat for yourself. Watch yourself for the spectres as you wander home at night. They may be foul, or they may be a friend.

ALCHEMICAL INQUIRY EXPO

Academic inquiry is alive and well in the streets of Ul’dah. I had the privilege of exploring the Serotinal Alchemical Conference and Expo (SACE) a few weeks ago, though my own knowledge on the subject is rather lacking, what I did see looked nigh indistinguishable from spells and magic. Here are but a few anecdotes from the conference, highlighting some of the newest innovations we can expect in the coming moons. The conference started off with a seminar by Professor Doku Farilem, an eccentric of an already eccentric bunch. Though I myself did not participate, the subject of applying inscriptions to objects to create protective amulets of a sort. My understanding is that while protection is viable, utilizing these sigils could also be effective in combat. Perhaps those with ample time and creativity might find use for these effects.Professor Urent Xavelier of Sharlayan gave a lecture on a book titled, Essences and Permutations. The lecture surrounded an idea that each element can create another. Such as that Lightning might create Fire, or Earth might create Ice. The examples given made sense, explained by sparks causing fires shade creating cold environments. I wonder if replicating these situations might improve magic for those who practice it. A delicate science such as this might need testing.I was quickly brought to focus by a second demonstration by Professor Farilem. Using alchemy in combat seems to me to be quite routine, simply to cure wounds and restore aether. But her demonstrations included tantalizing poisons to coat weapons, greater healing applications, and even more so… explosions. Rest assured those of Ul’dah who heard cracks and booms from the Hustings Strip, everyone is safe. Though the application of flashy explosives is one I quite enjoy…I found the lecture on Emergent Magical Sapience by Morikuni Furukane to be rather curious. It is apparently commonplace for creatures and objects in the Far East to gain a certain degree of sentience. Why we have not seen these “Auspice” creatures grow in Eorzea is a strange circumstance. The portion of the lecture on living objects, known as “tsukumogami” interested me. I believe that they are different from how we imagine ancient golems and mammets, and that their age seemingly plays into their sudden sentience. This may also be key to understanding the wisdom of the Auspice that are revered in the East. Perhaps my own travels shall help me to meet one some day.I thought it a myth, but brought to the stage was a vial of Fantasia. Surely, even now I cannot imagine it to be real. The amazing effects touted as changing yourself, no matter how minute or macro the detail may be is something that must be legend. All the same, the mysterious presenter also showed similar effects, such as the abilities of some seedkin that turn their prey into “korpokkur” whilst on the hunt. Perhaps it would be worthwhile to try and source a bottle… if they truly do exist. To end the weekend off, there were a number of lectures speaking on the benefit of Alchemy, especially in the realm of identifying cursed artifacts. Simple drops of a liquid would show a variety of curses, or even their severity. The application of certain brewed vials of ‘Holy Water’ seemingly having some effect to lift these curses. Those too powerful to be broken were contained, their effects trapped by both sigil and alchemy.Having spent the weekend among minds clever enough to make both medicine and poison, I find myself rather comfortable. With breakthroughs in both combative and medicinal alchemy, we find ourselves in an age where perhaps we need not worry so much about illness or death. Perhaps all the same, with breakthroughs in poison and explosives, we ought to worry just a little more. Dear reader, I believe it may be best if you and I stop by our local apothecary and pick up some supplies. You never know just what breakthrough they might have made.

DALMASCAN DAWN EXCLUSIVE

The ports of Limsa Lominsa happen to be one of my favourite sights. Ships come and go, showing me the myriad colours of folk, strange and wonderful. Though it was merely a fact of life to see adventurers, to serve them on their ways, I always wished to learn more about them. Though I have always been a forward sort, speaking my mind to those I wish to, I know many do not. Thus brings me to one of the core pillars of the Lodestone Informer. To feature people far and wide, to glimpse their lives, and perhaps understand them a little better. Today I feature a songstress from Dalmasca named Auresque. I was quite fortunate enough to hear her song, fleeting as it may be. Her words were filled with wisdom, and of delightful memory of a place she has long since been away from.To understand someone, we must look to their foundation. Who they are as a person often can be defined by their titles, their space within the world. Upon asking Auresque, she told me she was a songstress, a traveller, and a “lady of shadows”. By my own admission, she is damn good. A voice as smooth as silk, and talent to match. As a traveller, I suspect she simply means in a similar fashion to myself; one who moves freely about the world. I wonder what it is she might be seeking, if anything? Though I did press on being a “lady of shadows” I was only told that she dealt in secrets. Quite unfortunate, but I would not press any further at the risk of having my quill taken from me. Perhaps her answer had more to do with the man standing behind her during the interview. Though he never spoke a word, they both shared several glances throughout. I suspect that they are not coworkers, but perhaps may be rather friendly with each other.Moving along, I asked about her home, Rabanastre. You reader may yet be familiar with the now ruined city. Perhaps you aren’t. The picture painted in words gave me the feeling as if I were there. "Even ruined, it still sings. Golden domes and crumbling marble, heat rising from the cobblestones. Perfume and incense clinging to the market air like ghosts who refuse to leave." Standing there in a place of beauty broken as it were, my mind flashed to the days gone by, where Bahamut rained death upon us. Though I count myself lucky, I know many who were not. In that wisp of a moment I felt myself wandering the streets. A space of happy days gone by, families wandering the markets… and empty, left alone to the baking sun. I wish to see it some day, with my own eyes. To excited adventurers, I urge you to explore somewhere such as this. See what you might not have seen.I was somewhat shocked to have my interview reversed on me. Though to be asked my own thoughts by an interviewee does show some insight into her mind. I was asked if I was searching for the truth, or something prettier. I thought it somewhat odd to ask, but my own thoughts on the matter were perhaps deeper. On one hand, I seek truth, to bring to light what might have fallen from the eyes of most. But stories like these, like hers, are inspiring in some ways. No reason to see the world as it is day to day. We’re a broken mess, and I will gladly show you the beauty in them.To conclude our conversation I asked Auresque one final question. For advice or wisdom, for my readers to perhaps learn from. Something, anything that she had learned in life. I myself was pleased with the answer.“Take the long roads when you can. The best stories are never found where you meant to go. Home isn't always a place. Sometimes it's a moment, a song, or someone who looks at you like you belong."In life, everyone has their own paths. Had you asked me a year ago what I would be doing, I would most certainly tell you that I would be fishing for a living. But all it takes for life to change is one chance encounter. One singular moment that you never expected. Take that leap, dear readers. Find your enjoyment, those treasured moments. You never know, you might make a new friend. You might discover a path you never knew existed.

HONEY SWEET CARRIN MEAD

Wine and ale flow like water in Vylbrand. Limsa Lominsa is hardly different. Hard working sailors are known to stop at the Drowning Wench, or simply stock their ships with enough ale to last. All the same, my tastes are rather mild compared to most. A quick drink here or there, perhaps a glass of wine with dinner. Never before had I tried mead. That is, until but a few days ago. Through the proverbial grapevine, I had heard of a Padjal making a business of selling mead. Keen to investigate, I met Tab-I Carrin in the cozy halls of Buscarron’s Druthers. To me, I learned quite a bit about life as a Padjal, and had the chance to try what might be my new night time ritual.Asking her about herself, and life as a Padjal, it became quite clear. Life is difficult, and strict. Those who are ‘chosen’ by the elementals are raised in a place called Stillglade Fane. Upon my own investigation, it serves not just to raise these children but to teach others the art form of Conjury (something I might take a few lessons in…). Despite the rules, young Tab-I had quite the rebellious streak, sneaking out to see her parents in Hyrstmill. Despite being scolded, she felt it was worthwhile. Thus brings us to Carrin Mead, a family business first and foremost. Young Tabi-I took over the business over a hundred years ago, keeping the tradition alive. Though she had some years of waning expertise, only starting in earnest approximately five years ago. When asked about her goals, she commented: “My mother once told me her dream was to have it be sold overseas, even if that means in La Noscea, and I'd like to be able to one day see that dream come true. The best way to do so is make it a legitimate business”.I had three bottles sent to my residence by the Mead Maker, and I must say I am impressed. The sweet taste of her apple mead was refreshing. A perfect way to end the evening, almost like a dessert! I could say something similar about the regular honey mead, with its smooth comfortable texture. What truly shocked me was the Mun-Tuy mead. Tab-I’s favourite, and a flavour I was quite unfamiliar with. The savoury flavour I could see going well with roast popotoes, and a lovely stew. I cannot wait to pick up another bottle. If you yourself are looking to pick up a bottle or three, stop by Hyrstmill and ask around. Someone will surely be able to show you the way to Tab-I’s abode. Or stop by the bar, they too sell the mead, just in case you were wishing to try it out. Given that this mead has been a family project for at least two centuries, you’ll be hard pressed to find anything better!

About the Author

Born to a family of fishers in Limsa Lominsa, F’lothei Mhor was born into a world on the verge of change. With the ways of Piracy changing, the great Thalassocracy was still a rough place to grow up. Throughout her youth, the young F’lothei found that most problems could be solved with her fists first and help later. Much of her time was spent mediating disagreements between other children that roamed the upper and lower decks and dealing out punishment to those in the wrong.Maturity came to F’lothei quickly, in the form of the Calamity. When Bahamut soared across the sky that day, lives ended in the blink of an eye. Countless stories and ideas were lost along with those who perished. To help the city rebuild, F’lothei joined the Maelstrom Command as an archivist. Her nosey nature led her to seek out gaps in records and track down those thought lost in the Calamity. Her efforts led to reunions, and moments of closure. As life dragged on, and the Calamity became a distant memory, F’lothei found herself longing for something new. Surely, Limsa Lominsa was busy and bustling… but there had to be more out there. Sharing a drink with a strange auri woman gave her all the motivation she needed. The world was vast, and far stranger than she could have imagined. Full of wonderful and odd people, places filled with magic and wonder. Saying goodbye to her family, she set off on the next airship to unknown destinations. Writing down notes of her travels, she sells each issue as ‘The Lodestone Informer’ under a new pseudonym: Scribe Pageturner.

OOC

Hello there! My name is Ellie, and I am extremely happy that you have sat through and read this profile! It seriously means so much to me. I'll keep this short, and give you all the information you'll need right away.As seems the case for many people, I joined FFXIV in the Shadowbriners Era (5.4 specifically). Most of my early days playing were spent raiding, both Savage and Ultimate. Though I am retired now, I still have a love of content and crafting (so I'll happily help wherever I possibly can!).
Roleplay wise, I've been at this for about a decade, and have built up a large base of experience.
I am quite fine with Roleplay that is long and paragraph driven, or shorter snappier sentences. I personally tend to lean on dialogue and conversation in my posts, and attempt to cut down redundancy. I do not have a word limit and do not expect others to have a word limit.I am happy with any themes, dark, comedic, action packed, slice of life, adventure, and so on. Simply ask me if you are interested in anything at all, or walk up to me. I am super happy to try anything.I am heavily invested in the lore of FFXIV, however, I am also extremely excited to see where stories go. If you wish to expand upon or bend the rules of the game a little feel free. If I feel something is too much, I will under no circumstances ask you to change.
